State guests from all over the world in Bavaria: For the Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder, the G7 summit was a political success.
But after the summit at Schloss Elmau, according to Söder, the Free State is still arguing about the bill for the event.
»We are still struggling with the federal government for final financing.
The commitments so far are still too few,” said the CSU politician to the “Augsburger Allgemeine”.
Söder's argument: The Free State did not apply for the orientation, but fulfilled a request from the federal government.
As the host, Chancellor Olaf Scholz is ready to meet the financial obligations, said Söder.
“It hasn’t been so pronounced with the Federal Minister of Finance so far.
But I'm confident that we can still settle this afterwards, otherwise there would be a bitter aftertaste." Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU) had previously demanded that the federal government bear the costs of the G7 summit.
Around 18,000 security forces from all over Germany were deployed around the summit, and the venue was largely cordoned off.
The costs of the event had been estimated at 180 million euros in advance.
