At first glance, French finance (fintech) start-ups got through the first half of the year well.
After recording a record year in 2021, 66 start-ups raised a total of 1.382 billion euros, slightly more than a year earlier over the same period (1.334 billion), according to a study by the Fintech Observatory published this Tuesday.
But this amount is misleading.
In reality, the market was very buoyant in January and February: Qonto, the neobank for SMEs and VSEs, thus raised 486 million euros, Payfit (payroll software) 254 million or Alma (split payment solution) 115 million. .
As was already the case last year, insurance start-ups continued to do well, capturing 35% of funds raised: led by Alan (183 million), Descartes (107 million) and +Single (90 million).
