Valeo ramps up in electrics


The French equipment manufacturer has bought Siemens' share in their joint venture dedicated to electric propulsion.

Announced last February, Valeo's acquisition of Siemens' share in eAutomotive, their joint venture in high-voltage electric propulsion, has been completed.

The company specializes in electrification over 60 volts, including 400 volts and 800 volts.

At this level, the performance is much better: the power of the car is much greater, and the charging is faster.

This is a complementary activity to the 48-volt light hybrid (the Ami de Citroën is also equipped with its 48V engine) that Valeo was already doing.

“Valeo is growing, becoming stronger and accelerating in electrification,

summarizes Christophe Périllat, the general manager of the equipment manufacturer.

The high-voltage electric propulsion market will be 92 billion euros in 2030. We estimate that 60% of this value will be captured by the manufacturers who will manufacture certain powertrains themselves
