Because of high energy prices: Housing cooperative restricts hot water supply

In Saxony, a housing association has reduced the supply of around 300 apartments with hot water because of the high prices. Even Wolfgang Kubicki now recommends taking a cold shower.

FDP politician Wolfgang Kubicki could be a good resident of the Dippoldiswalde housing association.

In a dispute with Economics Minister Robert Habeck about the importance of showering when it comes to saving energy, the Vice-President of the Bundestag finally admitted this week: "I mostly take cold showers."

He should feel comfortable in an apartment of the cooperative.

Because the board of directors has partially shut down the supply of hot water and heat in its apartments.

Because of the drastic increase in energy prices, a post on Facebook said: “Gas and electricity prices continue to rise.

As already announced at the general meeting, we now have to save for the winter.«

300 homes affected

This is followed by a list of the peak times at which hot water is still available in the cooperative in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district - at certain times in the morning, midday and evening.

The heating, in turn, will remain completely switched off until September.

They also want to "generate electricity on our roofs" and pass it on to the members without a fee or surcharge.

“That would be a real relief.

In Berlin and at the ›E.ons of this world‹ nobody wants it«.

Almost half of the approximately 600 cooperative apartments have been affected by the new hot water rule since July 1st.

These would be heated with gas, reported the broadcaster MDR, citing the cooperative board.

"It's not about bullying the tenants, but about adjusting to what we might not be able to pay for next year," said board member Falk Kühn-Meisegeier.

»We want tenants to get through this crisis well.

Life is expensive enough as it is.«

The tenants of the cooperative therefore understand the savings program.

However, this is sometimes violently tackled on social media, for example.

The tenants' association also criticized the procedure, as reported by Deutschlandfunk.

Tenants have a legal right to hot water, one should not limit this unilaterally.

Maybe it helps if you remember Wolfgang Kubicki while showering.

You're "fresh in the morning when you take a cold shower," he said.

»In this respect I can recommend it to many people.«

Just whether, as a liberal, he can also be dictated when he has to take a shower?
