2022-07-08T18:07:00.884Z

The American giant will make a formal decision at the end of 2022 if it has not obtained, by this deadline, the certification of the aircraft or a derogation from new standards from the American Congress.

Boeing is preparing the ground for the discontinuation of the 737 Max 10 program, the largest version of its family of medium-range aircraft.

“We have to face this question

(stop the program, editor’s note).

After all that we have been through, the debts that we have had to accumulate (...) to envisage a world without 737 Max 10 does not seem so terrible”

, explained David Calhoun, CEO of the American aeronautics giant, in a interview with

Aviation Week

magazine .

The firm decision will be taken at the end of 2022, if Boeing fails to obtain certification of the aircraft from the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA), the American aviation safety authority, by this deadline.

Or if the manufacturer does not benefit from an exemption from the American Congress, so that the Max 10 is certified without having been brought into compliance with the new validation standards for pilot warning systems in aircraft certified from from January 1, 2023.
