Inflation is reaching record highs, threatening the daily lives of French people even more, some of whom have already changed their consumption habits or slowed down their travel.
Under pressure, the government is planning a battery of measures, contained in its Purchasing Power bill, in an attempt to cushion the shock, especially for the most fragile households.
Presented Thursday in the Council of Ministers, this arsenal of measures must still be debated in the National Assembly in July.
Who should be affected by these aids?
And under what conditions?
The Parisian takes stock.
For the most modest households
Faced with galloping inflation, the government wants to give priority to the most modest households, already hard hit by price increases.
Among the measures under discussion is an “emergency food aid” of 100 euros, the revaluation of the activity bonus or a 4% increase in social minima.

For motorists
Gasoline has never been so expensive in France.
Faced with this observation, the executive wishes to set up a fuel allowance in October which will replace the discount of 18 cents on liters of gasoline.
Assets with limited resources who drive to work will be able to benefit from a bonus of 100 or 200 euros depending on their income and the composition of their household.

For students
The executive ensures that he does not want to forget the students, who have already been very tested over the past two years by the Covid crisis.
In this sense, a revaluation of 4% of scholarships on social criteria should be effective at the start of the school year.
This measure will apply to all levels - from 0 to 7 - and will not require any action on the part of the student.
Finally, the one-euro university meals for scholarship holders and young people in precarious situations will be maintained for next year.

For retirees
Faced with record inflation, the government ensures that it does not want to leave pensioners on the floor.
He first wants to revalue the retirement pensions of the basic schemes by 4% from July 1st.
A figure supposed to be closer to that of inflation which exceeded 5% over one year in June, according to INSEE.
Another boost, the solidarity allowance for the elderly (Aspa), paid to the most modest pensions, could also be increased by 4%.

For tenants
Regarding the housing sector, the government wanted to find a compromise between the interests of tenants and landlords.
The benchmark rent index will therefore increase by 3.5% in July before leveling off at this level for a year.
This measure is accompanied by an increase in personalized housing aid (APL), revalued by 3.5%.

For civil servants

The boost had been promised just before the presidential election.
After five years of freezing, the government announces that it wants to increase the salaries of 5.7 million public officials by 3.5%.
“The biggest increase for 37 years”, had defended the Minister of Transformation and Public Service Stanislas Guérini.
An increase which however struggles to satisfy the unions of the profession.

For the independents
The executive also wants to make a gesture for the self-employed.
This assistance should result in a reduction of their contributions.
There are many professionals concerned by this reduction in charges.
Craftsmen, merchants, all the liberal professions as well as heads of farms or agricultural businesses, i.e. 2.25 million people, could thus benefit from it.

For all homes
Although most of the aid is conditional on the situation and resources of the French, some provided for in the Purchasing Power bill, should affect all households, unconditionally.
This is particularly the case of the tariff shield which will be extended until the end of the year, as well as the abolition of the audiovisual license fee.
