Freshly appointed Minister of Transport, Clément Beaune faces the challenge of inflation, a veritable cluster bomb.
This fuels strike movements in the rail and air sectors, and affects the wallets of a large number of French people, who must in particular deal with a rise in fuel prices.
In this period of vacation departures, travelers who leave by car - that is to say the majority of French people - must indeed provide a much larger envelope than usual to pay for gasoline, the price of the main fuels now exceeding two euros per litre.
Faced with this tense situation, the Minister of Transport announced to Le

bring together all the players around the table, to think about actions
".
Among the options considered by Clément Beaune, that of asking “
a gesture
” from the motorway companies.

The Minister takes as an example a decision by TotalEnergies, which has decided to apply a reduction of 12 euro cents per liter of fuel in its stations located on motorway service areas, until August 31.
A discount which is added to a reduction decided by the State of an amount of 18 cents.
This government aid must also be extended: while it was initially to be lifted on the same date, it should remain in force as it is until the end of September, before being gradually reduced.
SNCF prices raise questions
The French who take the car this summer are not the only ones to pay a high note for getting around, however.
For several months, SNCF customers have been surprised at the rates charged by the railway company.
