An economic analysis revealed that the potential profits from recycling waste could reach billions of euros.
The study, conducted by the Waste Management and Recycling Sector at the American consultancy (Bain & Company), indicated that “the world annually consumes 1.7 of the amount of resources that the planet can renew at the same time and extract 100 billion tons of new resources annually, of which less than 9 are recycled.” Only percent of it.”
The study indicated that "this approach is no longer sustainable, so we must seek a circular economy model capable of contributing to the development of European GDP by up to 7 percent and creating two million jobs in the old continent by 2030."
Bain & Company's analysis indicated that the recycling sector will play a central role in the environmental transformation and transformation of economic models from linear to circular.
"In addition to improving the use of resources and reducing waste production, it is necessary to make the collection, management and recycling of packaging materials, goods and products efficient," the study said, calling for its re-design.
