Chinese experts and analysts stressed that the sanctions policy pursued by the United States and Europe against Russia has failed to achieve its objectives and that the significant negative effects of these sanctions are getting worse for the European Union countries that rely heavily on Russian energy exports, especially natural gas.

The director of the Institute of International Relations at China's Renmin University, Yue Wang, was quoted by the Chinese newspaper, Global Times, as saying that "the European Union began to question whether the United States had deceived it when it imposed more and more sanctions against Russia."

For his part, Hongjiang Cui, director of the European Department at the China Institute of International Studies, said that "the new seventh package of EU sanctions will turn into a largely symbolic act, as EU members cannot agree on many issues."

Referring to the differences in the positions of the European Union countries regarding the continuation of the failed sanctions policy against Russia, the Global Times indicated that some members of the European Union continue to press for adding more energy-related measures to the new sanctions package, while other members strongly reject this approach due to the adoption of A large number of European bloc countries on Russian energy exports.

The newspaper considered that with the intensification of sanctions pressure, the United States suffers less damage compared to the European Union, which is closely linked to Moscow in the industrial and energy sectors.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stressed yesterday that the sanctions policy against Russia did not achieve its goals, but rather negatively affected its owners. The European economy is in recession.

It is noteworthy that the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed earlier, in the words of the Director of its Economic Cooperation Department, Dmitry Perechevsky, that the steps that Moscow will take in response to Western sanctions against it may be “very painful,” noting that Western countries are exhausting their economies and citizens with these hostile steps, and it is not Russia’s fault.
