For the shareholders of the first hour of EDF, the renationalisation will thus materialize their losses.
The title was introduced on November 21, 2005 at a price of 32 euros for the 5 million individual buyers.
Last week it was suspended at 10.22 euros.
EDF is not an isolated case.
France Telecom has had an equally calamitous stock market history.
Listed on the stock exchange in October 1997, the title, offered at 27.70 euros, took advantage of the TMT (technology, media, telecoms) bubble at the turn of the 2000s. In March 2000, it peaked at nearly 220 euros.
The value of the former public monopoly then flirted with 250 billion euros.
The operator largely dominated the CAC 40.
