Workers shut down production line by surprise (Photo: Sivan Farage)

Workers at Teva's manufacturing plant took an unusual step this morning when they unexpectedly shut down production of one of the drugs.

The shutdown of the line is expected to continue throughout the morning shift (about 8 hours) and prevent the production and packaging of about a million tablets of the drug.

The shutdown is expected to cause the company considerable financial damage, mainly due to expected supply disruptions.

AlfaD3 is the trade name of the drug Alfacalcidol, which is used to treat patients with kidney and bone diseases associated with vitamin D deficiency

.

This is after at the end of last June, together with the Histadrut, they announced the start of a labor dispute.

The workers and the Histadrut then claimed that Teva's management was grazing their terms by "saving everything related to the workers' conditions", employing contractor workers and outsourcing using the "revolving doors" method.

The workers then claimed that the plant's management creates an unreasonable burden on about 1,100 of the site's employees in Kfar Saba, works to weaken their elected representatives, change work procedures without transparency and without employee participation, and use various disciplinary procedures "in bad faith and arbitrarily to promote management goals." According to them.

Eliran Kozlik, chairman of the Teva plant workers' committee in Kfar Saba

, told Walla! Money that "we decided to shut down the production line because the management, like two of the three monkeys, blocked its ears and blocked its eyes when it came to the site's workers.

The move may have surprised the opaque management of its production workers, but it does not surprise any of the company's employees who work hard shifts so that a company will always meet its goals.

It should be remembered that we began working with the company's management to formulate a new collective agreement for the site's employees as early as last February, but the management is deliberately dragging its feet, trying to produce facts on the ground that obscure the future of the workers and their conditions.

This is while it continues to infuse itself with corporate cream in the form of salary increases, bonuses and even dividends that have raked in their pockets, as every year.

We tried to avoid such a forceful organizational march, but it seems that we will even have to intensify it, because only when the cream of the management begins to be harmed will they pay attention to us as well. "
