The US Energy Information Administration revealed today that the stock of crude oil in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve of the United States fell 5 million barrels last week to 480.1 million barrels, the lowest level since July 1985.
The Reuters news agency quoted the government agency as saying that US oil production also fell by 100,000 barrels per day during the week ending July 15 to 11.9 million barrels per day, the lowest level since early June.
This is the first time that production has fallen for two consecutive weeks since late January.
