The Russian gas company Gazprom further cuts supplies through the Baltic Sea pipeline Nord Stream 1.
From this Tuesday onwards, 20 percent or 33 million cubic meters of gas would flow through the most important supply line to Germany every day, the company announced on Monday.
The reason is the repair of another turbine.
In June, Moscow reduced deliveries via Nord Stream 1 to 40 percent, citing a missing turbine that was repaired in Canada but was initially not returned to Russia because of the sanctions.
At the request of Berlin, Ottawa then handed over the machine to Germany.
In this way, the federal government wants to take away from the Kremlin an excuse for supply cuts.
However, Russia's President Vladimir Putin recently threatened new cuts, citing the need to repair more turbines.
