A circumstantial alliance between LR, Nupes and National Rally deputies made it possible to put the government in a minority. This last re

You would almost get used to it.

The government suffered a new setback in the Assembly on Monday with the vote of support to the tune of 230 million euros for homes heating with oil, in the face of inflation, during the examination of measures to the purchasing power.

The executive tried somehow to defend a more targeted measure for low-income households with 50 million euros planned for the subject.

But the amendment of LR Jérôme Nury was voted by 164 votes against 153, with the alliance of the oppositions Nupes, LR and RN, a new illustration of the difficulties of the macronists in the absence of an absolute majority at the Palais-Bourbon.

An “imprecise” amendment

Jérôme Nury (Orne) underlined “the urgency of the situation”, including for the “middle classes”, pleading for “temporary and exceptional aid”.

"Part of this Parliament does not realize the social emergency on fuel oil," said RN Jean-Philippe Tanguy.

Socialist Claudia Rouaux estimated that there were "a lot of families who are struggling to fill their tanks", sometimes with "ten successive checks" to spread out payments of hundreds of euros.

At LREM, Mathieu Lefèvre judged that "fuel oil" is an "obvious subject" for the coming winter but "cannot be dealt with on the fly with an amendment to 230 million euros whose criteria we do not know. and which is "not precise".

A previous quack had taken place on Saturday evening with the decision of the Assembly, against the advice of the government, to allocate 120 million to the departments to compensate for the increase in the RSA.

The Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire said he was "stunned to see parliamentarians who only have the word

restoration of public finances

in their mouths incur such public expenditure".
