The Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, discussed with the President of the General Union of Farmers Ahmed Saleh Ibrahim, in the presence of the Syrian Ambassador in Baghdad, Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah, ways of joint cooperation between Syria and Iraq in the fields of agriculture and irrigation.
During the meeting, al-Hamdani explained, according to a statement by the Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources, that irrigation facilities in Iraq and Syria were damaged as a result of the control of ISIS terrorist gangs over some areas in the two countries.
The Iraqi minister pointed to the importance of continuing cooperation and joint work in order to improve the narrative reality between the two countries by holding seminars and workshops, developing the ministry's staff in the two countries, and exchanging visits and meetings at the ministerial and technical levels.
Syria had participated, represented by the Minister of Irrigation, Dr. Tammam Raad, in the work of the second Baghdad International Water Conference, which was held during the month of March of last year, where a memorandum of understanding was signed between the ministry and the Arab Center for Studies of Dry Areas and Arid Lands “ACSAD” to exchange scientific information and develop technical capabilities for workers in The field of irrigation and enhancing joint cooperation in the field of integrated water resources management, irrigation water management and raising the efficiency of its productivity.
