The price of gas in Europe continued to rise again today, in light of the difficulty of the European Union collecting sufficient reserves to enable it to dispense with imports of Russian gas.
AFP reported that the Dutch TTF gas futures contracts were traded at 249 euros per megawatt-hour, a level that has not been recorded since the first days of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, when the markets witnessed many fluctuations.
The price of gas closed yesterday at a historical level of 241 euros per megawatt hour, yet its price is still far from what it recorded on the seventh of last March when it reached 345 euros.
In turn, the authority supervising the energy sector in Germany ruled out that the country would be able to achieve the goal of filling its reservoirs, which was previously set by the government.
The head of the authority, Klaus Muller, warned of a shortage in several regions in winter, pointing out that the matter is not related to one winter, but to at least two winters, and the second winter may be more difficult.
