The Japanese companies "Tokyo Gas" and "Jera" renewed contracts to purchase liquefied natural gas from the new operator of the Russian "Sakhalin 2" energy project.
The Japanese Nikkei newspaper reported that the renewal of the contracts means that the terms of delivery and purchase prices will remain as they were before the new changes in the management structure of the Russian “Sakhalin 2” project, noting that at this stage none of the eight Japanese companies that receive liquefied natural gas within the framework of The project announced its intention to terminate the supply contracts.
The Japanese companies, Mitsui and Mitsubishi, announced earlier their desire to retain their shares in the Russian "Sakhalin 2" gas and oil project under the management of the new operator, which announced yesterday that it will start implementing the production and economic activities associated with the project.
