The minister had already estimated at the beginning of the month that inflation would last until the end of 2022.

Consumer prices will remain high for several more months.

Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire said on France 5 on Wednesday that "we should not expect an improvement on the inflation front before the start of 2023".

But "we do not have a scenario on the table today which foresees double-digit inflation in France", added the minister as consumer prices rose by 6.1% over one year in July, according to INSEE.

At the beginning of August, the minister had already estimated that inflation would continue “until the end of 2022”.
