Energy will be one of the most important questions of the meeting, this Tuesday, between the German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, and the president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez, we recognize in Madrid.
And, given recent statements in Germany and Spain, the subject that will occupy Scholz and Sanchez during their interview at Meseberg Palace will undoubtedly be the MidCat gas pipeline.
This tube connecting Spain and France, imagined in 2007 and whose construction was paralyzed in 2010, was defined by Scholz last month as a project which would
"contribute massively to relieving and relaxing the supply situation".
German interest in the project is fueling the enthusiasm of the Sanchez government and the Spanish energy sector.
Since the invasion of Ukraine, Spain wants to relaunch the gas pipeline between Catalonia and Occitania to export hydrocarbons to its northern neighbors.
France, on the other hand, is constantly getting colder…
