US stocks fell for the fourth session in a row today, and recorded the weakest performance for the month of August in seven years, as concerns persisted about large interest rate increases from the Federal Reserve.
Reuters reported that the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 280.44 points, or 0.88 percent, to 31,540.34 points, while the benchmark Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 31.16 points, or 0.78 percent, to close at 3,955 points, and the Nasdaq Composite Index closed down 66.93 points, or 0.56 percent, to 11,816.20 points. The Dow Jones month, down 4.06 percent, while Standard & Poor's fell 4.24 percent, Nasdaq fell 4.64 percent, and the three main Wall Street indexes suffered the largest percentage declines for the month of August since 2015.
