Will we soon witness sanctions and perhaps even a strike at the barn factories, one of the largest food producers in Israel?
Against the background of the labor dispute in the company, which was confirmed on August 10, the Histadrut stated that it (the Union of Food and Pharmaceutical Workers and the Division for Workers' Associations in the Histadrut) is holding informational meetings at barn sites throughout the country.
For the past six months, negotiations have been taking place for a general collective agreement in Asem to regulate the terms of employment and wages of the workers, but according to the workers' representatives, the company's management is piling up difficulties and backing away from agreements on significant issues.

The labor dispute, which applies to approximately 3,500 workers, was announced after negotiations for a general collective agreement have been underway for the last six months at Asem to regulate the terms of employment and wages of the workers, but as mentioned, according to the workers' representatives, the company's management is piling up difficulties, showing a lack of good faith and withdrawing from agreements on issues significant such as raising the factory minimum wage, retirement and welfare conditions.
Could the situation escalate to the point of shutdowns or even a general shutdown of work? For the time being, the workers' representatives prefer to deal constructively:
Chairman of the Food and Pharmaceutical Workers' Union Eliezer Bello
: "I call on the management of Esem to come to their senses And stand behind the agreements we reached as part of the intense negotiations."
