Coal futures prices in Europe rose to a new record as natural gas supplies from Russia continued to be reduced.
According to the trading markets, the price of standard contracts for coal in Europe rose by 7.6 percent to reach $345 per ton, which is three times the price during the same period last year.
This record rise comes after natural gas prices rose in European trading the day before yesterday by more than 35 percent, against the backdrop of Russia's announcement last Friday that it would continue to stop pumping gas through Nord Stream 1 indefinitely due to the impact of Western sanctions on its repair and maintenance operations.
