US natural gas futures fell today about four percent to their lowest level in four weeks, while production is on track to record a monthly record and global oil and gas prices have plunged.
Reuters reported that natural gas contracts for October delivery ended the trading session as low as 30.3 cents, or 3.7 percent, to record at settlement $7.842 per million British thermal units.
US gas futures are still up about 110 percent so far this year, while gas is trading around $61 per million thermal units in Europe and around $55 in Asia, representing a 12 percent drop in European gas prices.
