Spain doubles its purchases of Russian gas

Last August, Spain doubled its purchases of natural gas from Russia, according to the Spanish energy company EnaGas.

And Sputnik news agency quoted the company as saying in data published today: that Spain increased its purchases of natural gas from Russia last month by 102.19 percent compared to the same month last year, explaining that it bought 4,505 gigawatt-hours of natural gas from Russia, compared to 2,228 gigawatt-hours. As for each country's share of Spain's total imports of natural gas last August, the United States accounted for 26.5 percent of supplies, Algeria 24 percent, Nigeria 15.3 percent, France 12.3 percent, while Russia ranked fifth among the main suppliers with 11.8 percent.
