Further proof that recruitment is a major challenge for the French economy.
Hiring intentions continue to increase this year, according to the new edition of the ManpowerGroup employment outlook barometer, which covers the fourth quarter of 2022. France even becomes the European country, tied with Sweden, where companies expect to hire the most over the next three months.

The net employment forecast*, an indicator created by ManpowerGroup, stands at 34% for the next three months, up five points from the third quarter which will end at the end of September.
This level of employers who anticipate an increase in their workforce, however, remains below, by a small point, the levels of the fourth quarter of 2021.
Medium-sized companies, the main ones concerned
In detail, the multinational human resources explains that, if all sectors show a positive net employment forecast, some decline over one year.
The manufacturing sector thus loses 20 points of net employment forecast between the end of 2021 and the end of 2022;
the hotel and catering sector, unsurprisingly, gained 20 points between these two periods.
Regarding the typology of the companies concerned, those of medium size plan to recruit more than the others.
Companies with between 10 and 49 employees show a net employment forecast of 38%, up 17 points over one year.
The figure is reduced to 18% for small businesses (less than 10 employees), down 16 points from one quarter to another.
Finally, geographically, France is divided between the centre-east, where hiring intentions are the highest (40% net employment forecast), and the north, where the net employment forecast is the most limited ( 25%).
* The net employment forecast figure used in the barometer is the result of subtracting the percentage of employers anticipating an increase in their workforce from the percentage of employers anticipating a decrease.
It is therefore a net balance – which can be positive or negative – of job prospects.
