Norway's Deputy Minister of Oil and Energy Andreas Eriksen said that fixing Russian gas prices may exacerbate the energy crisis in Europe.
In an interview with CNN, Eriksen said: “First of all, the main problem in Europe at the moment is the lack of energy resources, and therefore fixing the price does not solve it... On the contrary, it can aggravate the crisis, which will lead to a rise market demand.”
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto had previously warned that the idea of setting a ceiling on Russian gas prices was absurd because it would lead to a rise in its price, and the European Commission realizes that this measure is not economic but entirely political.
