Wall Street closed higher today after a report on producer price inflation. According to Reuters, the benchmark Standard & Poor's 500 index ended the trading session up 13.32 points, or 0.34 percent, to 3,946.01 points, while the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 86.10 points, or 0.74 percent, to close at 44719.68 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 30.12 points, or 0.10 percent, to 31,135.09 points.
Among the eleven major sectors in the Standard & Poor's 500, energy stocks were the top gainers, with oil prices rising, supported by supply concerns, Starbucks shares jumping 5.5 percent and Tesla shares rising 3.6 percent, recovering from the previous session's losses.
