The Turkish lira recorded its lowest level in its history, affected by the announcement of a new reduction in interest rates in banks.
And Agence France-Presse reported today that the Turkish Central Bank cut its main interest rate by one point for the second month in a row from 13 percent to 12 percent, so that the Turkish currency is trading at 18.4 lira to the dollar, a record low.
The Turkish lira, which lost 44 percent of its value in 2021, has fallen by more than 27 percent against the dollar since January 1.
According to official figures, inflation in Turkey reached 80.2 percent last August, the highest level since 1998.
