Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) has promised citizens and companies rapid help in view of the high energy prices.
In order to implement the relief packages that have been decided, the necessary support will now be organized “very, very quickly”, said Scholz in his weekly Internet format “Kanzler compact”.
This applies to private households, but also "to companies that now have high energy bills and do not know how to continue their business".
The federal government also wants to ensure "that electricity prices fall again by changing the market design".
To ensure that this also succeeds with gas prices, his government has set up a commission and is talking "with the European Union and with all those who export gas to Europe and Germany," said the Chancellor, who at the weekend Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Visited Emirates and Qatar to discuss energy cooperation there.
But he already considers the energy supply to be secure despite the failure of Russian gas supplies: "We'll probably get through," says Scholz.
