Engineer Najwan Ghazal, head of the Fruitful Trees Division in the Lattakia Agriculture Directorate, revealed that the area planted with apple trees in the governorate exceeds 2,328 hectares, distributed over the Lattakia area with 920 hectares and the Haffa area with 940 hectares, while the area in Jableh reached more than 388 hectares and Qardaha 80 hectares.

In a statement to SANA reporter, Ghazal indicated that the total number of apple trees in the governorate amounted to 842,411 apple trees, of which 726,810 are fruitful trees, indicating that the production estimates for the current season are 26716 tons.

For his part, the head of the Agricultural Marketing Department in Syria for Trade in Latakia, Engineer Rami Saleh, stated that, based on the ministry’s directives, we began on 9-21 to distribute the boxes free of charge to apple farmers who wish to market their crop after touring all villages and regions and in coordination with agricultural associations, expecting that 300 tons will be marketed. To be sold through Syrian outlets at competitive prices.

Regarding the marketing prices for the current season, Saleh pointed to the adoption of a marketing pricing that ranged for the first elite between 1200 and 500 pounds for a kilo of red apples, 1100 for the yellow, between 900 and 800 for the second toast, and 600 and 500 for the third.
