The federal states see significantly greater financial problems for local public transport than previously known. By 2031, they expect losses of over 30 billion euros - previously a tenth of this was calculated.

The federal states are apparently assuming significantly greater financial problems for local public transport than previously feared.

In a paper by a working group of the federal states, quoted by the "Süddeutsche Zeitung", they expected a total deficit "of over 30 billion euros" by 2031. So far, around three billion euros have been calculated for the next two years.

If we justify the long-term deficit of the countries with sharply rising costs for »energy, personnel and material«.

In order to avoid cuts in the range of buses and trains, the federal government must increase its financial support.
