Companies in Germany apparently don't think much of the German red tape.
In a survey conducted by the Allensbach Institute for Demoscopy, a majority of 62 percent answered the question about the efficiency of the administration with “rather less”, “hardly” or even “not at all”.
The main point of criticism is the long duration of planning and approval procedures.
The survey was commissioned by the Joint Committee of German Trade and Industry.
This includes numerous associations.
"Ledious procedures cost companies money and competitiveness," said industry president Siegfried Russwurm as chairman of the joint committee.
In order to get through the current crisis, German companies would have to be able to react quickly to rising energy and raw material costs and tight supply chains.

For 65 percent of the companies surveyed, the bureaucracy has also increased over the past seven years.
"Germany can no longer afford an administration in which scanning a form and sending a PDF file counts as digitization," said Russwurm.
65 percent of the companies consider it very important that the digitization of administration in Germany makes rapid progress.
