Despite the difficult economic environment, the labor market proved stable in September.
The number of unemployed fell by 62,000 to 2.486 million people in September as part of the beginning of the autumn revival compared to August, as the Nuremberg Federal Employment Agency announced on Friday.
The unemployment rate fell in September compared to August by 0.2 percentage points to 5.4 percent.
It thus remained unchanged compared to the same month last year.
However, the number of unemployed compared to September last year was 21,000 higher - this is also related to the registration of Ukrainian refugees.
"The labor market is still stable overall despite rising prices and concerns about energy shortages," said Andrea Nahles, chief of the authorities.
However, the demand for labor is “slightly declining at a very high level”.
