” in the sobriety effort requested from companies this winter by generalizing, in its buildings in France, the extinction of lights from 8:00 p.m. and by programming the stopping of heating during peak consumption, the group said on Tuesday.

While heating constitutes on average 40% of energy expenditure in its French building stock of 400,000 m2, the heating period will begin on October 15 instead of September 15 in its sites, including its headquarters in La Défense, a tower of 36 floors.

With these measures, Engie aims to reduce heating consumption by 18% this winter compared to 2021. The group is also committed to generalizing the switching off of lighting between 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., with light accounting for 13% of the energy consumption of its sites.

program the standby or automatic shutdown of
electronic devices” such as computers.

Another savings lever is the continuation of actions undertaken since 2019 which have enabled it to “
reduce energy consumption by 35%
” linked to employee travel to their workplace, the result in part of teleworking.

optimization
” of the fleet of service vehicles, training in eco-driving and the use of bicycles within its sites.
