The meeting of the Ministers of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil and Industry, Ziyad Sabbagh, with a number of industrialists and investors focused on discussing the reality of the private industrial sector, the mechanism of investment in it, and how to promote it, and to overcome all obstacles that hinder its work and development.

During the meeting, which took place today at the Ministry of Industry building, the investors pointed out the importance of cooperation with the relevant ministries to develop the work of national industrial facilities and increase production in them as they are one of the main pillars of the development process. Initial and production requirements, to support existing projects with new production lines.

They pointed to the need to work and intensify efforts to mitigate the negative repercussions resulting from the economic blockade imposed on Syria, by increasing granting facilities to industrialists and investors, to encourage them to develop their production, and to enhance a safe investment environment, in a manner that meets the needs of society, supports the national product, and helps market it at considered prices. and increases its competitiveness in global markets.

The investors demanded the provision of all the necessary requirements for industry, investment and import, such as diesel, fuel, electricity and foreign spare parts, according to controls that ensure the achievement of the desired goal, and do not cause inflation, which ensures the development of production, encourages investors located abroad to invest in Syria, and helps to attract expertise and cadres Humanity willing to work in this field, and limits its migration.

Minister Al-Khalil pointed out that holding joint meetings and dialogues with a number of industrial establishments owners and investors in priority areas in the national economy to overcome difficulties increases the possibility of interaction between investment decision-makers and government agencies, to reach results that contribute to reducing import and demand for foreign exchange.

Al-Khalil pointed out that the investments that were carried out or entered into production during the war period, and that challenged the economic siege imposed on the Syrian people, are evidence of the courage of the national capital and the courage of investors’ decision to meet investment opportunities and create important new projects that meet local needs, indicating that there are The government gives great attention to developing the investment sector, as it contributes to pumping new money into the local market.

In turn, Minister Sabbagh explained that the aim of the meeting was to learn about the experiences of industrialists who followed up their investments in Syria, during the war period and the economic siege imposed on it, and finished equipping their facilities, bypassing all obstacles until they entered service, took off in the production process, benefited from their experiences, and identified the reasons Success in them, their promotion and cooperation in finding solutions to the problems they suffer as industrialists.

Sabbagh stressed the importance of developing these experiences, developing them and benefiting from them in different sectors, to meet the needs and requirements in the internal market, as the industry represents a mainstay of the national economy.

For his part, the Director General of the Syrian Investment Authority, Madian Diab, pointed out that the authority follows up on all investment projects that obtained investment licenses in all their stages, and works to overcome the obstacles it faces, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, so that these projects see the light and begin production.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Minister of Industry Asaad Warda and Ayman Khoury.
