Olivier Klein throws in the towel.
The managing director of Bred is no longer seeking the succession of Laurent Mignon at the head of the banking group BPCE (Banques Populaires, Caisses d'Epargne, Natixis, Bred).
He has just withdrawn his candidacy which would have forced the mutualist group to change its statutes.
In fact, at 65, he has reached the age limit set for members of the Executive Board.
“However, it was too difficult to change the statutes of BPCE in the allotted time”
, explains one in his entourage.
BPCE has, it is true, chosen an accelerated procedure to replace Laurent Mignon, who will take the helm of the investment company Wendel no later than January 2023. The supervisory board, chaired by Thierry Cahn, wants to avoid reigniting the war between the Caisse savings and popular banks.
The name of the new boss should be announced between mid-October and mid-November.
