The Jordanian-Syrian Economic Forum, organized by the Jordan Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade, and with the participation of more than 90 Jordanian companies and businessmen, continues its business for the second day at Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus.

The participants in the working sessions of the dialogue today, in the presence of the Ministers of Industry Ziad Sabbagh and Agriculture, Engineer Muhammad Hassan Qatna, will discuss the prospects for cooperation and industrial and agricultural integration between Jordan and Syria and the promising opportunities, in addition to reviewing the capabilities of Jordanian companies within the exhibition accompanying the forum, and their opportunities for their work in the Syrian market in the fields of inter-trade, agencies, services and industry. , the financial sector, insurance, contracting, construction, universities and agriculture.

In a statement to SANA, Dr. Irfan Al-Khasawneh, Director General of the Syrian-Jordanian Free Zone, confirmed that the forum constitutes an opportunity for Syrian and Jordanian businessmen and investors to meet, and to inform the participants and visitors, including Syrian and Jordanian businessmen and investors, about the investment areas available in the region, the services provided, incentives, competitive advantages, qualified infrastructure, and the facilities provided. them, with the aim of increasing the volume of investment in the region by attracting investors to sign investment contracts.

Al-Khasawneh indicated that the free zone occupies an area of ​​6,500 dunams, with 5,000 dunums currently available for investment in various industrial, commercial, agricultural, service and car showrooms. Relationship to work on developing the investment environment in the region.

Regarding the most important advantages that the zone provides to investors, Al-Khasawneh explained that it grants the industrialists present in it a long-term contractual period in terms of land leases of up to 25 years, and commercial contracts are granted for a long contract period of up to about 15 years at encouraging and competitive prices, and there are also tax exemptions from income The resulting business originating in the region may have a term of up to 15 years.

The head of the Syndicate of Owners of Jordanian Clearance and Transport of Goods, Daifallah Abu Aqleh, pointed out that the forum discusses all obstacles and challenges facing the flow of goods and inter-trade between the two countries, noting that the Jordanian government provides all facilities and exemptions in order to transit these goods at the lowest costs and as quickly as possible, in addition to To provide facilities for Syrian merchants and provide all services to Syrian businessmen to restore things to what they were before and implement Jordanian-Syrian agreements.

Engineer Rami Ahmed, director of the Canning Industry Company, one of the Jordanian Al-Sayegh Group companies, said in a similar statement... Today, we are participating in four companies that manufacture metal containers for food and industrial uses, as well as mineral oils, sponges and fibers, which are specialized in filling “aerosol” for all gas-pressurized products, so that they can be sprayed and used in homes. companies, factories, etc.

Ahmed indicated that the Syrian market is for them one of the main and targeted markets in the region due to the proximity between the two countries, the social and economic interdependence and the similarity of customs and traditions, pointing out that the goal of participating in the forum is to expand the customer base and establish diverse partnerships with Syrian companies and work to launch towards regional and global markets.

The Director General of the Industrial Estates Company in Jordan, Omar Juwaid, noted the great attendance witnessed by the businessmen in the two countries, indicating the importance of introducing investors from the Syrian side to the environment and industrial investment in Jordan, and the advantages offered by industrial cities to investors in the field of industry, in order to achieve integration between the two industries. Jordanian and Syrian, and access to joint industries that serve the economies of the two countries and invest the available resources and opportunities.
