The Lyon-based SME Elyse Energy has announced an investment of 350 million euros to set up its first factory in Lacq, the former gas basin near Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), on land that previously belonged to the mining giant Rio Tinto.
“Decarbonization, relocation and energy independence”
, lists Benoît Decourt, co-founder and director of operations, to summarize the ambition of this group founded in 2020 by two specialists in renewable energies, Cédric de Saint-Jouan and Pascal Pénicaud.
Respectively co-founder of Vol-V - whose solar, wind and biomethane installations were sold in 2019 to CNR and Engie - and former CEO of the second French solar energy operator Tenergie, they are now developing, with a team of around thirty people, "low carbon molecules", that is to say, made without fossil fuels.
