After the ExxonMobil depot in Port-Jérome (Seine-Maritime), the government spokesman indicated that the Flandres depot center of Tota

While six of the seven refineries in France are on strike this Wednesday, the government has raised its tone, imposing in particular the requisition of the personnel essential to the operation of the ExxonMobil depot in Port-Jérôme in Seine-Maritime.

"We need a quick release," said the government spokesman after the Council of Ministers.

Olivier Véran assures him, “the impact of this social conflict has become unbearable for too many French people”.

The former Minister of Solidarity and Health recalled that other requisitions could take place at the Flandres depot center, of TotalEnergies, in the North.

“Other requisitions cannot be ruled out.

(...) On Dunkirk, it can change at any time.

If the blockage continues, we will go,” he told reporters.

A “very noticeable improvement in the coming days”

Regarding the requisition of the Port Jérôme depot, Olivier Véran assures us that the executive acted "with tact and moderation in the matter, that is to say that we act when social dialogue is not respected or when it was impossible, ”assured Olivier Véran.

As such, he criticized the CGT which, according to him, "still refuses to comply with these basic rules of social dialogue", while a majority agreement was found at Exxon.

With this first requisition, the government spokesperson assured Wednesday that the French would see a "very significant improvement in the coming days" in fuel reserves at service stations, thanks to the requisitions of strikers.

“Then, for a full return to normal to happen, it will take several days,” he added.

The former Minister of Health then detailed the process of restarting the deposits.

“From the moment you unlock, you start running the drop-off centers again, this will have several consequences: first of all, trucks will be able to leave the drop-off centers again and resume their normal routes to supply the service stations, so there you have a visible effect which is rapid”, detailed Olivier Véran.

In a second step, “as you will be able to empty some of the stock in the depot centers, you will be able to allow the refineries to start operating normally again, since they will be able to store their fuel again in the depot centers”.

TotalEnergies will receive the CGT on Wednesday for the first time since the beginning of the social conflict started on September 27, the main demand of which concerns a salary increase.

This movement caused fuel shortages in a third of French service stations.
