Pernod Ricard is still hungry for growth in the United States.
Less than a week after having increased its stake in the capital of the American wine and spirits specialist Sovereign Brands, the world number two in the sector is back on track.
He has just taken a stake in the tequila Codigo 1530. He has acquired a minority stake in this young brand, for an amount kept secret.
Created in 2016 by three entrepreneurs, Codigo produces ultrapremium (bottles sold between $40 and $80) and prestige (more than $80) tequilas in the Mexican state of Jalisco.
But also mezcals, another popular Mexican alcohol.
Marketed in 50 American states and around thirty countries, it currently sells around 100,000 cases a year, according to the firm specializing in wines and spirits IWSR.
