The VTC Bolt platform announced on Thursday that it would open up to taxis in Paris, like FreeNow and Uber.
A new category, “
taxi
”, is thus available on the application.
The big difference with the VTC, former enemy brothers, is that the application only provides an estimate of the price of the race.
"
The launch of taxis on our platform will allow us to reach new users accustomed to this service and thus be able to offer our fast, practical and inexpensive transport offers to as many
people as possible ", explains Julien Mouyeket, General Manager of Bolt France.
“
Taxis are allowed to use bus lanes allowing them to move faster and thus reducing travel time for the user.
They also have access to areas reserved for them for drop-off and pick-up at stations and airports, which is more convenient for users
,” he said.
New offer
The Estonian company was already based when it was launched in 2013 on taxi fleets.
Seven hundred independent drivers have already registered on the platform, according to Bolt.
This service will soon be extended to other major cities in France where Bolt is present, such as Lyon or Bordeaux.

Its competitor FreeNow (ex-Chauffeur Privé), which opened up to taxis in early June, now has 1,000 active drivers on its platform.
"
The joint integration of taxis and VTCs on the same application results in better availability and greater flexibility of service, thus contributing to the loyalty of users
", had underlined the platform.
Uber also launched this service in early October in Paris, with a fleet of 500 independent taxis.
