Today, the US dollar retreated from its highest level in a week against a number of its major counterparts, with improved sentiment in financial markets ahead of the US Central Bank and Bank of England meetings scheduled for this week.
Reuters reported that the dollar index, which measures the performance of the US currency, fell against six competing currencies, including the euro, the pound sterling and the yen, by 0.48% to 111.02, losing part of the gains it recorded yesterday, amounting to 0.79 percent.
The pound rose 0.55 percent to $1.1529, and the euro rose 0.47 percent to $0.9923.
The Australian dollar also rose 0.57 percent to $ 0.6434, but it fell after the decision of the Reserve Bank of Australia from higher levels recorded earlier, and the New Zealand dollar increased 1.02 percent to $ 0.5874.
The dollar fell against the yen 0.71 percent to 147.68.
