The Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Dr. Amr Salem, stressed that the most important axes that are being worked on within the amendments of some articles of Decree No. 8 of 2021 are more stringent in violations and raising the value of fines, penalties and closures, to be a real deterrent to violators.
During a meeting with the directors of internal trade and consumer protection in the governorates, Minister Salem explained that the number of controls will not reduce prices, but rather their quality. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on traders who influence the market and who raise prices, stressing that traders who work according to laws and regulations and abide by prices, the ministry will provide full support to them. The violators must be held accountable.
Minister Salem stressed that the directors of internal trade and consumer protection should work in terms of controlling and following up their control patrols, to perform their role optimally, and those who do not comply must be held accountable.
