The hydrogen energy sector in China is growing remarkably

An official from China's National Development and Reform Commission (DRC) Shen Zhulin said that China's hydrogen energy sector has entered the fast track of development, as the country is steadily moving forward with its green endeavors.

"The hydrogen energy sector in China is developing in general thanks to supportive policies, strong market demand and emerging new technologies," Xinhua news agency quoted Shen as saying during the 2022 China Hydrogen Industry Conference. During the conference, 17 large hydrogen projects covering areas from power generation to Smart energy systems, which have been operated or signed agreements for their implementation.

Xiang Haiping, chief engineer of the National Energy Commission, called for greater efforts to make breakthroughs in key materials and core technologies, encourage innovation of business models, and improve the regulatory framework so as to build a healthy hydrogen energy innovation and development ecosystem.

Analysts said: This sector will help China in its race to achieve its goals of reaching a peak in carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality, and by using clean energy, industries from transportation to the petrochemical sector will be able to accelerate the green transition.

As the world's largest hydrogen producer, China has recorded an annual hydrogen energy production of about 33 million tons and more than 300 hydrogen producing enterprises with annual major business revenue of at least 20 million yuan (2.84 million US dollars).
