Fuels: prices are falling again

2022-11-28T14:57:51.514Z

After jumping in mid-November, in the wake of the drop in government and TotalEnergies rebates, the prices of carbs

Finally some good news at gas stations.

While they had skyrocketed the week of November 14 due in particular to the reduction in government and Total rebates, prices at the pump started to fall again last week.

According to official figures published on Monday, November 28, the liter of diesel, the best-selling fuel in France, was at 1.86 euros, a drop of 4 cents in seven days.

The SP 95-E10 cost 1.72 euros (-4 cents).

Tariffs which are quite close to those noted at the end of August, before the establishment of the aid of 30 centimes granted by the State.

The effects of the economic and health situation in China

This - salutary - drop is explained in particular by the drop in oil prices.

The price of Brent tumbled last week, posting at 87.5 dollars, a fall of 6.1 dollars!

And it's not over: this Monday, a barrel of Brent from the North Sea traded around 9:50 a.m. at 81.44 dollars.

A level which had not been reached since the end of December 2021. In question: the concern of investors in the face of the increase in Covid contaminations in China – there are more than 40,000 cases on Monday, a record – and the multiplication protests in this country against the government's "zero Covid" policy.

Events that could slow down production in China, the leading oil-importing country.

Prices at the pump in France could therefore continue to fall.

What relieve (a little) the portfolio of motorists while the boost from the government was revised downwards in mid-November, from 30 to 10 cents.

On the same date, that of TotalEnergies went from 20 to 10 cents.

These two systems are maintained until the end of the year before disappearing in favor of more targeted aid.

The precise terms are not yet known, but this new boost would especially benefit those "who make a long journey to work", according to the words of Élisabeth Borne, the Prime Minister.

Half of households should be able to benefit from it.
