Where is the cheapest basket?

The prices were checked on a chain average, when only chains containing at least 80% of the total products were taken for comparison.

When a product is not found in the entire network, the average price of the other networks tested is taken for it.

From the findings it can be concluded that:

the cheapest network: Rami Levy and the most expensive network: yellow with a difference between them of 47% (NIS 147).

The difference between the cheapest urban chain (the market warehouses in the City) and the most expensive urban chain (AM:PM) is 22% (NIS 72).

The difference between the cheapest discount chain and the most expensive - 9% (NIS 28)

The differences in the convenience stores are 27% (NIS 98)

Same product only less expensive

The differences for the exact same product reached more than NIS 30, examples of such differences were found by the Israeli Consumer Council in the following products:

Dark lager beer 4.9% in a Goldstar 6 * 330 ml bottle (barcode 7290008464741) priced at NIS 19.9 in the Rami Levy online and Hyper Cohen chains Compared to a price of NIS 50 in the yellow network, the difference is NIS 30.1 (151%).

This way you will save on your next purchase

Shopping list in advance:

Make a shopping list, and compare prices on websites

. There are alternatives:

search every shelf, and in every category, for cheaper products.

A less well-known (and less expensive) brand in a way does not fall in quality from the leading and popular product.

For example, the private brand of the chains is cheaper than the leading brand in the category.

Don't be tempted by the sales

: did you come to buy snacks?

Don't be tempted to buy products you don't need just because they are on sale.

Buy what you need

: even if the price of a 100 gram package of snacks is cheaper than the price of a snack in a 25 gram package - the caloric and health consideration is also important.

Validity

check: Check the validity of the products.

The chains promote the products that have a short validity.

If it is not about immediate consumption, take the products with the longest validity, so that we can keep at home and not throw away.

You can always complete:

Monitor the weekly consumption of the fresh products, and buy only what is missing.

You can always supplement if necessary.

To cut the road short, a recommendation that is true for the whole year and for every purchase: check what is missing at home, make a list, compare prices and only then go out to buy.
