Sofia Bernardin and Sabrina Marshall, two former Vogue and Self-Service magazine graduates, started from this premise to create Re-SEE almost 10 years ago, an e-commerce platform specializing in the sale of clothing and bags. ultra-luxury.

Ten years later, and while the group is selling in Europe, the United States (40% of sales) and Asia, it announces that it has completed a fundraiser of 5 million euros.

This financing was made in particular with the American entrepreneur Shari Glazer, the brother of the co-founder of Showroomprivé Michael Dayan, and Darren Star, known for having directed and produced emblematic TV series such as Sex and the City or Beverly Hills.

A way for the group to forge new links with the entertainment and fashion industries.

And therefore to grow both its wardrobe available online, the sinews of war, and its clientele.

30 day turnover rate

This funding should enable us to expand even more internationally, where the demand for second-hand luxury is very strong,

explains Sofia Bernardin, one of the co-founders of Re-See.

For two years, we have seen a real change in the mentality of luxury consumers, for whom second-hand is becoming the first choice

”.

More than new buyers looking for a first experience with luxury, the site mainly attracts regulars of ultra-luxury products in physical stores, who are now more concerned about sustainability.

More than the price, they also look for exceptional vintage pieces or collectibles that cannot be found elsewhere.

As well as old pieces that they want to assemble with more modern pieces

, ”explains the entrepreneur.

Hermès handbags, Chanel fashion shows by Karl Lagerfeld, Céline pieces by Phoebe Philo or Yves Saint Laurent... All items are carefully selected, authenticated, photographed and repaired if necessary by the Re-SEE teams.

With success: on average, the offered parts do not stay online for more than 30 days.

Compared to its competitor Vestiaire Collective, already valued at more than 1.5 billion euros and also positioned in the resale of luxury goods, Re-SEE aims to be even more exclusive.

With ultra-luxury products, of which he estimates the second-hand market at 53 billion worldwide.

With a little delay compared to their ready-to-wear counterparts, luxury houses have indeed invested in this flourishing niche for two years.

Partnership with brands

Profitable since its beginnings, the site is remunerated on the commissions applied on the sales.

These reach on average 40% of the sale price.

"

We are on track to achieve our objective of 25 million euros in turnover in 2025

", concludes Sofia Bernardin.

To speed up the pace and fill its online wardrobe, the group is finally seeking to increase collaborations with brands.

In particular on their “

archives

”, ie the rare unsold pieces of which collectors are fond.

Recently, Re-SEE teamed up with the luxury women's ready-to-wear specialist Alaïa, both on these unsold pieces, but also on those from previous seasons brought back by customers in the Parisian store of the Mark.
