EasyJet cabin crew unions have maintained their Christmas strike threat after a meeting with management q

Will the sky be disturbed for the end of the year holidays?

It is in any case a threat that hovers at EasyJet.

The two main unions, SNPNC and UNAC, which represent the majority of EasyJet flight attendants in France, have maintained their Christmas strike threat after a meeting on wages with management.

They are demanding an 8% increase to cover inflation and an increase in the cost of their mutual, which was recently changed.

For the time being, this threat is entering into the negotiations, which are due to end on December 7.

For its part, the management of EasyJet makes it clear that there is currently no strike notice filed in France.

“We will continue to work hard to find a solution and do everything to avoid any impact on our customers,” said a spokesperson for the company.

However, the British company, which employs 1,800 employees in France, including 1,000 cabin crew, still sent an email to the unions to warn them that if strikes were announced, all management proposals would be withdrawn.

Suffice to say that the showdown is far from over.

Other possible strike movements

These discussions take place in a tense social climate in the air sector, while attendance is expected to peak at Christmas after three years of difficulties linked to the health crisis.

Indeed, EasyJet's flight personnel are not the only ones who want to take advantage of the holidays to exert pressure.

The unions of Air France stewards and hostesses UNAC and SNGAF have also filed a strike notice from December 22 to January 2.

They are demanding the signing of a provisional collective agreement to replace the agreement determining their social rights which expired at the end of October.

Already, at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport, it was the employees of the ADP group responsible for energy supply who went on strike at the start of the week to demand more hiring.

And according to the CGT, other movements are currently disrupting the refueling of planes and a strike has also occurred in Air France freight transport.

France is not the only one affected by the claims.

British customs services have also planned to stop working during the holidays, which should cause major disruption at airports across the Channel.
