Despite the time that has passed, it seems that the concept of a lawyer who dresses in pink suits and sparkly dresses remains somewhere in the closet.
That's not the case for attorney Kathleen Martinez, who brilliantly calls herself "Not Just the Real Blonde."
She has a chic office that is decorated entirely in pink, where she arrives in her pink suits, is not ashamed to arrive at the courts in bright dresses - and is very happy forever in fact that the other side seems to underestimate her abilities because of her glam look.
Immigration attorney Kathleen Martinez began practicing law in 2017 but decided to shun the conservative outfits usually associated with her profession. Just like Elle Woods, a vivacious Harvard law student, Kathleen, who shares the beloved character's famous blonde locks, gives Letting her personality shine through her cheerful style, the 31-year-old says she likes to stand out and believes that "professionals don't have to be put in a box to be taken seriously."

The lawyer, who lives in Dallas, Texas, USA, told the Mirror: "I'm usually up against some old, conservative lawyer who looks down on me because of my looks. I find that winning a case while wearing bright suits makes it a lot more fun. Also My clients love it - they manage to connect with me. Al Woods and I embrace our personal style and we don't let it get in the way of our intellect and professional goals. It sends an important message: you don't have to choose to be feminine or smart - you can be both!"
Unfortunately, like Elle, Kathleen encountered a few who looked down on her based on her attire, including one former boss who used to constantly comment on her appearance.
The mother of two, who now runs her own firm, Martinez Immigration Law, recalled: "One time I wore a green dress and the same person told me he wouldn't accompany me to court until I changed into a more modest dress. A more 'modest' colored dress. I wore the green dress anyway - And the judge liked it! The field of law can be stressful, so my personal style helps me enjoy this job a little more."

Kathleen regularly shares videos of her life, work and fashion sense on TikTok, with her latest video entitled "A Day in the Life of a Lawyer - Elle Woods in Real Life" proving particularly successful.
In the video, Kathleen can be seen getting ready in front of a wardrobe full of pink suits and high heels, before heading to work in her pink, "Not Just Blonde" inspired office.
The video garnered close to 5 million views - with many followers praising her for staying authentic to her personality.
One wrote to her: "You are everything I want to be! For so long I thought you had to be smart or feminine. I'm glad that now I know I can be both!".
Another added: "I'm a lawyer and I love that you wear the bright pink suit to annoy the other side."

Kathleen, who says it only takes her 30 minutes to get ready every morning, added: "I like to illustrate how much fun it is to practice law. I like to pick out my bright outfits and go shopping after court. Practicing law doesn't have to be as boring as people think - and you can win in court in any outfit you feel like wearing."
