The Director of Plant Production at the Ministry of Agriculture, Eng. Ahmed Haidar, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that the area cultivated with wheat has so far reached 336,600 hectares, of which 145,771 hectares are irrigated and 190,829 hectares are rainfed, out of the total planned area of 1.6 million hectares, indicating that 153,500 hectares have been cultivated in Al-Hasakah followed by 100,000 hectares, then Raqqa 30,398 hectares, Aleppo 27,180 hectares, Tartous 3,971 hectares, al-Ghab 5,025 hectares, Hama 5,508 hectares, Homs 1,472 hectares, Deir Ezzor 4,000 hectares, Damascus countryside 2,783 hectares, Idlib 2051 hectares, Latakia 515 hectares and Quneitra 142 hectares. As-Suwayda 55 hectares.
Haidar indicated that the area cultivated with barley has reached 472,205 hectares so far, of which 24,881 hectares are irrigated and 447,324 hectares are rainfed, out of the total planned plan of 1.3 million hectares, pointing out that the amount of seed distributed has so far reached 26,571 tons of wheat seed, 1319 tons of barley seed, and 3 5 tons of lentils and 6 tons of beans.
Haidar indicated that 7,991 hectares were cultivated with the potato crop for the fall harvest, out of the total plan of 12,208 hectares, with an implementation rate of 65 percent, in the governorates of Daraa, Homs, Hama, al-Ghab, Idlib and Aleppo, pointing out that the cultivation of sugar beet crops continues in Hama and al-Ghab, where the cultivated area reached up to Now 910 hectares of the organized area of 1427 hectares, while the amount of beet seed sold from agricultural banks amounted to 6756 kilograms.
Haider said: The plan for food legume crops for this season amounted to 249,834 hectares, of which 5,466 hectares were planted, including 180 hectares of lentils, 128 hectares of chickpeas, 4,166 hectares of beans, and 992 peas, indicating that 13,065 tons of the cotton crop have been marketed so far, and the harvested area has reached 12,197 hectares. .
